If you follow me on Instagram (@ollivandermo!! lol) then you would've already seen that Jon and I went on a bit of an eating frenzy yesterday. We woke up early to have some Dim Sum at a Chinese restaurant. I freaking love Dim Sum but it's not really something you can just go eat whenever you want. Usually you have to get up early on a weekend to get any (the ones in Tucson only have Dim Sum on weekends). If you've never had Dim Sum before you need to go out and try it. It's amazing. I tried these custard tarts (pictured above) for the first time there, and it was SO GOOD that we got two orders of it. One order came with 3 tarts I believe.
Then later that evening we ended up going to try Culver's for the first time. Culver's popped up in Tucson a few months back before summer started. It's a burger joint that's famous for their Butter Burgers and their Frozen Custard. IT'S SO FREAKING AMAZING. Jon, being from So-Cal, is a HUGE In-n-Out fan. However, he says that he may have just been converted to Culver's. You can tell that their burgers aren't frozen and you can SEE that they're real burger patties by just looking at the shape of it. The menu there is HUGE so we had a hard time decided. We couldn't even decide between fries or onion rings...so we got both! And they were both DELICIOUS. I usually am not a fan of crinkle-cut fries because they tend to be soggy, but this was just so crispy and perfect. I'm always a fan of onion rings as well, because I just love onions but again, you could tell that these were fresh. They're made very similarly to ones I've made at home on my own. Their ingredients are just fresh and crispy and so flavorful. I'm not really a fan of burger places (I like home cooked meals with rice) but I am now a HUGE Culver's fan. As for their frozen custard--SO GOOD. I got a vanilla frozen custard with brownie bits and pecans. I liked it so much I wish I didn't get anything in it! It's interesting. You can tell that it's not ice cream and it tastes a lot different, but it's great. I wish I got it with just pecans, which is what I think I'll do next time. Either way, I'm definitely coming back here. Never thought I'd be so obsessed with a burger joint.
