Spoken Word
I've always been a writer. The first creative thing I remember writing was a story about twin girls and their adventures. That was when I was 4 years old in kindergarten. To this day I still love to write. I don't necessarily have all the time in the world to write anymore, nor do I have the over-dramatic emotions of a 14-year-old anymore (thank God!) but I do still have a little bit of magic left in me. As I got older I struggled to find my style of writing again, but I've recently been exploring Spoken Word and Slam Poetry and I've been inspired.
I've decided to start sharing some of my writing through my YouTube channel. I've been pretty uninspired lately when it comes to my Ollivandermo channel but I think I'm finding my way again. Ever since I created a channel I've thought about sharing some of my writing on YouTube, but I've always been kind of nervous about it. I feel really confident about my new-found inspiration from spoken word poetry though and I think this is the perfect way to share my work.
I recently heard somewhere that to be an artist, you can't be afraid of emotional truth. It pushed me to tap into the emotions I usually just keep to myself. It also pushed me to not be so afraid to share my art. So that's what I'm trying to do.
Jon
Jon has only been gone for a little over a week now, but it feels like forever. Originally it looked like he was only going to be gone for about a month or so, but I got news from him this morning that it's going to be more like two or more. He was originally supposed to be back just in time for our one-year anniversary, but now I guess he'll be gone until late September or early October.
Dance
My first memory of dance was also around the age of 4 years old. I stood in the ballet studio, shy as hell, insisting that my sister take the toddler ballet class with me even though she just got through with her class and she was 3 years older than me. The last time I danced was around four years ago and ever since I quit I've been talking about how much I've missed it.
There's been a yoga craze going around lately and some of the moves remind me so much of dance. Everyone's yoga pictures on Instagram has somehow led me to joining up with a studio again. Today I take my first dance class and I'm really quite nervous about it. Maybe tonight, or tomorrow I'll post again on how that goes.
